CHILE SIGNS AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY (INAPI) AND THE WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION (WIPO) TO SHARE THEIR DATABASE
The Chilean National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) signed a cooperation agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the subscription of the largest database from different national or international sources last June.
Thanks to the aforementioned agreement, INAPI incorporated approximately 500,000 applications requests and registrations granted between January 2006 and May 2017 in Chile, and will continue to update the necessary information on a monthly basis.
As a result, Chile is the first country in South America to join the Global Brand Database whose portal allows the access to about 28,750,000 entries with 35 national and international collections whose results come from the database of 33 countries in addition to the trademarks of the European registry and the international registry of WIPO. As a result, the platform allows the user to realize one centralized search for free.
