TRADEMARK OFFICE SETS REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-TRADITIONAL TRADEMARK APPLICATIONS
By means of Resolution No. 3718 of 2016, the Trademark Office instructed the requirements for non-traditional trademark applications: tridimensional, sound, color and tactile trademarks.
Tridimensional trademark applications must include a two-dimensional graphic or photographic reproduction showing all trademark details. If the reproduction fails to meet this requirement, the applicant must submit up to six different views of the trademark together with a written description. The Trademark Office may request a physical sample in case of considering that the submitted materials prove to be insufficient.
Sound trademark applications must contain a description using a musical stave or phonograms and an audio file.
Tactile trademark applications must include a detailed and clear written description of the texture, a drawing of photograph and a physical sample of the texture.
