PPH AGREEMENT BETWEEN BRAZIL AND DENMARK
Following the steps taken with the Us, Japan, UK and China, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) recently executed a patent prosecution highway agreement with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) that came into effect on last September 1st, 2018
The program is expected to last for two years and provides each country to accept a maximum of 100 patent applications per year. However, the agreement contains a series of restrictions that include the BPTO only accepting one application per month, per applicant expect in the last month of the arrangement.
It also establishes that the DKPTO will only accept applications related to all technological sectors, whilst the BPTO will only accept applications regarding mechanical engineering, guns, explosives, and heating sectors.
Both countries aim to increase the efficiency of patent application reviews with this agreement and look forward to continue expanding the possibility to have “expedited” analysis programs with other Patent and Trademark Offices around the world.
