BOCADILLO VELEÑO PROTECTED AS DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN
The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce declared the protection of BOCADILLO VELEÑO as designation of origin by means of Resolution No. 35076 of 2017, granting the faculty to authorize its use to Federación de Empresarios de la Cadena Productiva del Bocadillo Veleño-Fedeveleños which is composed by several bocadillo, guava and bijao leaf producers.
Bocadillo veleño is a typical Colombian food product prepared by mixing ripe guava pulp and white sugar. Its characteristics are associated with its geographic production zone and raw materials. Additionally, its production entails following processes transmitted by generations.
The designation of origin could benefit approximately 80 food plants producing bocadillo veleño located in the departments of Santander and Boyaca.
Bocadillo veleño is the 27th Colombian designation of origin granted by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce.
