THE SOCIETY OF COLLECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF COPYRIGHTS OF AUDIOVISUAL WORKS CONSIDERS THAT THE NEW POLICE CODE IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL

The society of collective management of copyrights of audiovisual works (EGEDA) filed an unconstitutional action against the new Police Code for considering that the new law discriminates the copyrights holders of audiovisual works.

RATIFICATION OF THE BEIJING TREATY

On June 15th 2017, the Colombian House of Representatives approved the Law by the means of which the ratification of the Beijing Treaty was proposed. The mentioned treaty establishes new international rules in regards to the protection of the rights of audiovisual work performers.

COLOMBIA ENTERS THE ACCELERATED PATENT-GLOBAL PPH PROCESS NETWORK

Starting July 6th 2017, Colombia will be part of the NETWORK OF ACCELERATED PATENTS-GLOBAL PPH NETWORK composed of 22 countries from Europe, North America, Asia, Oceania, and now South America.

BOCADILLO VELEÑO PROTECTED AS DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce declared the protection of BOCADILLO VELEÑO as designation of origin by means of Resolution No. 35076 of 2017, granting the faculty to authorize its use to Federación de Empresarios de la Cadena Productiva del Bocadillo Veleño-Fedeveleños which is composed by several bocadillo, guava and bijao leaf producers.

CHILE SIGNS AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY (INAPI) AND THE WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION (WIPO) TO SHARE THEIR DATABASE

The Chilean National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) signed a cooperation agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the subscription of the largest database from different national or international sources last June.
